Peewees are Olympic Gold medalists
The McQueen Vue Paving Peewee Blackhawks traveled to Strathroy ON this past weekend (Nov 8-10) to play in the 48th Annual Rep Olympics. The boys played 5 solid hockey games and came away with Gold Medals.
The Blackhawks began the 4 game round robin against the Tillsonburg Tornados. After a slow start, the team finished strong and came away with a 5-1 win. Game 2 was against Ingersoll and the boys continued their winning ways, defeating the Express 6-2. After a bit of fun and a good night sleep at the hotel the Blackhawks continued their way to the finals with wins over Erin Hillsburgh (5-2) and a dramatic come from behind OT win (3-2) over the host Jr. Rockets.
They then met the Erin Hillsburgh Devils for the second time in the tournament, in the Gold metal game. After a back and forth battle with close chances by both teams, the Collingwood Blackhawks were victorious 3-2 to claim the Gold.
The Blackhawks now set their sights on the Bob Merkley Memorial Silver Stick tournament in Midland, Dec 6-8th.
