Collingwood Jr. Blues U14AA Leave It All on the Ice at Orangeville Fall Classic
.
The Collingwood Jr. Blues U14AA squad rolled into the Orangeville Fall Classic this past weekend and lit the place up with heart, hustle, and a whole lot of hockey magic.
From puck drop to the final whistle, the Blues came ready to battle — showing the kind of determination and team-first mentality that makes Collingwood proud. In round-robin action, the boys in blue went toe-to-toe with three tough opponents — Orangeville, North Toronto, and the Nickel City Cubs — grinding out three hard-fought ties and locking down second place in the standings. That effort punched their ticket straight to the semifinals.
The semis were a rematch with Nickel City, and the Jr. Blues weren’t messing around. They came out flying, played with swagger, and owned the ice from the get-go. With a rock-solid team effort and lights-out goaltending, they blanked the Cubs 4-0 and booked their spot in the championship final.
The gold-medal game was an absolute nail-biter — a classic barn-burner from start to finish. The Blues and North Toronto traded chances in a scoreless first and second period, with both teams laying it all on the line. Midway through the third, Collingwood finally broke through the deadlock, burying a beauty to go up 1-0. But North Toronto answered back late, knotting it up and sending the game to overtime.
Overtime solved nothing, so it came down to a shootout. With the tournament on the line, North Toronto’s final shooter found twine, sealing the deal in dramatic fashion.
While the Jr. Blues came up just shy of the top spot, there’s no question they left it all on the ice. Their grit, resilience, and never-quit attitude turned heads all weekend and showed exactly what Collingwood hockey is all about.
Stick taps to the coaching staff, the players, and the incredible parent crew backing them all the way. This U14AA squad is dialed in and destined for big things this season.
Go Blues Go! 🏒💙
