We are saddened to share the news that Bill Knorr, longtime owner of Pepi’s Pizza and Pepi’s UpperCrust, has passed away. Bill was a proud supporter of Collingwood hockey and a valued member of our community.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Bill’s memory to:

  • Collingwood Minor Hockey Association

  • Collingwood Agricultural Society (in support of the Great Northern Exhibition)

In accordance with CMHA by-laws, we are providing 21 days' notice to all members of an upcoming Special Members Meeting:

CMHA is currently accepting nominations for the position of Director of Development.
If you or someone you know is passionate about player development and growing hockey in our community, we encourage you to submit a nomination.

๐Ÿ“„ Representative Coaching Selection Policy

Purpose

To establish a clear, fair, and transparent process for the selection of Rep Level Coaches within CMHA.

Coach Selection Committee

  • Appointed annually by the CMHA Executive Board

  • 5 members: 3 Board members + 2 non-association members

  • Cannot apply for Head Coach positions

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate applications

  • Conduct interviews and debriefs

  • Recommend candidates to the Board

Coach Selection Process

A. Application Process

  1. Minimum 21-day open application period

  2. Must use the official CMHA Coaching Application Form

  3. Late/incomplete applications will not be considered

B. Evaluation Criteria

  • Coaching Qualifications (Hockey Canada/NCCP)

  • Coaching Experience

  • Player Development Philosophy

  • Communication & Leadership Skills

  • Past feedback (if applicable)

  • Compliance with CMHA By-Laws

C. Interview Process

  • All candidates contacted for interview

  • May include reference checks

Notification Process

Successful Candidates:

  • Phone call within 7 days

  • Written confirmation to follow

Unsuccessful Candidates:

  • Generic email within 24 hours of selection

  • Debrief offered (72 hours after notification)

  • No communication with committee/board outside debrief

Considerations

  • OMHA certification required

  • Max 3 consecutive years as Head Coach for own child (U10+)

  • Final decision rests with CMHA Board

  • Public announcement after all candidates notified

All application and interview info remains confidential.


๐Ÿ“‘ Posting of Board Meeting Minutes Policy

Purpose

To promote transparency and accountability by posting approved Board meeting minutes on the CMHA website.

Scope

Applies to all regular Board meetings (excludes in-camera sessions).

Key Points

  • Minutes recorded by Secretary

  • Posted within 15 business days of approval

  • Only reflects motions, decisions, and action items

In-Camera Topics Include:

  • Personnel/volunteer issues

  • Player/family matters

  • Discipline

  • Legal, contractual, or financial topics

Responsibilities:

  • Secretary: Record & maintain minutes

  • Board: Review & approve

  • Communications Director: Post online

Access:
Members may access via the website; archives available upon written request.

Effective Date: Upon Board approval and member adoption.


๐Ÿ“ฑ Social Media Policy

Purpose

To guide appropriate use of social media within the CMHA community and protect its brand and members.

Official CMHA Accounts

  • Instagram: @cwoodjrblues_cmha

  • Facebook: Collingwood Minor Hockey
    All official content must be posted via these accounts and managed by the Communications Director.

Unauthorized Accounts

  • Not permitted to use CMHA name, logo, or branding

  • Cannot imply endorsement or affiliation without written permission

Branding

Use of CMHA logos/branding requires written approval from the Executive or Communications Director.

Conduct Guidelines

All participants must:

  • Use social media respectfully

  • Avoid discriminatory or offensive content

  • Not post images of minors without consent

Violations: May result in disciplinary action under the CMHA Code of Conduct.

Reporting

Report concerns via the complaint form on the CMHA website.

Enforcement

CMHA may request removal of non-compliant content and revise this policy as needed.

We’ve had a few questions about next week’s pre-skates and wanted to provide some clarity before the weekend.

What are pre-skates?

Warm-up sessions to get players back on the ice before evaluations/tryouts.
โžก๏ธ Not formal assessments

Who can attend?

  • Players: All registered CMHA players at the applicable age level

  • Goalies: Absolutely welcome – great for extra reps!

Player Levels

Pre-skates are organized by age division — please attend sessions aligned with your division.

Pre-skates are optional but highly encouraged to get players ready for the season.
