Oh what a night, what a game, what a season!
Last night the Collingwood Jr. Blues U13 LL2 team fought tooth and nail in the final championship game of the season.

The Blues answered first with 8:25 remaining in the first.

Both teams then traded goals before the end the period to give the Blues a 2-1 lead.

Collingwood added another goal early in the second increasing their lead by 2.

The Coldwater Wildcats proved their mettle as they came within one by the end of the period and continued their siege into the third taking a 4-3 lead with 7:48 remaining.

However, the Blues still had a lot of fight left in them and they tied the game with just 46 seconds left on the clock to force overtime.

This was playoff hockey at its best !

The overtime period was back and forth and both teams were desperate to win. In the end the Collingwood boys proved to be too much for Coldwater, their perseverance paying off with just 12 seconds remaining to clinch a 5 – 4 sudden death victory for the gold medal !

This adds a story book ending for the U13 LL2 Champions following on the heels of their recent sweep at the Mike Hammond Memorial Tournament.

Thank you to our amazing Coaching staff, Scott Hewlitt, Greg Klein, Chris Huggins and Stu Lister that took this team of new to hockey, new to skating, and new to town players to the gold medal.

You used your humor, patience, skills, knowledge and passion and pushed this team to be the best they could be. You built a team that everyone wanted to be a part of - a season that none of us will ever forget!

We will forever be blessed with these friendships and memories. GO BLUES!!!!!!!
