Update
Submitted By Nancy Bain on Tuesday, December 15, 2020
To: Collingwood Minor Hockey Families. On behalf of the Collingwood Minor Hockey Executive and board of Directors I would like to distribute this update to all Collingwood Minor Hockey families currently registered within the Association.

As of today (Monday December 14th 2020) Simcoe District has been put in to a red zone, we are now faced with strict safety protocols, along with very hard decisions to make, these decisions have taken many hours behind the scenes, with many different moving parts.

Collingwood Minor Hockey was recognized in the early fall for being one of the first associations to complete the Safety protocols to have the kids return to hockey, we were recognized province wide with a radio Interview with Ontario Morning CBC Radio. Our Return to play committee have invested many hours in making sure protocols have been properly followed along with working with both the Town of Collingwood and Ontario Minor Hockey association.

On Wednesday December 9th 2020, Collingwood Minor Hockey held an Executive/Board meeting where it was discussed what plan we were putting in to place for moving in to Red Zone. We have decided for the timeframe of December 14 th to December 23rd 2020, we will continue to Offer development practices, there will be no game play or scrimmages allowed. Starting December 24th 2020, we will be shutting down for the Christmas holidays until January 4th 2021.

During the Christmas holidays the Collingwood Minor Hockey Board will be reviewing the start-up date and depending on the status of the pandemic will potentially reschedule a start date.

I would like you all to know that everyone’s safety is important to all of us and for that we are following strict guidelines, PLEASE NOTE: AT ANY TIME IF YOU DO NOT FEEL SAFE, THERE ARE NO EXPECTATONS TO ATTEND THESE SKATES AND WILL BE NO REPERCUSSION TO YOUR CHILD OR FAMILY.

I ask that all families, please stay positive and supportive of our decision, we ask that you please follow our protocols and I ask that you encourage others to do so as well, we have come along way in a short few months.

If you have any concerns please feel free to contact myself at [email protected] It is my great honor to serve as your president of this association and I will do my best to help guide all of us throughthese difficult times, we are all in this together.

Thank You.
Chris Potts
President
