Hi CHMA Members
Pursuant to the earlier Registration blast out, I would like to expand on how important Registration is right now!
The quicker we can confirm numbers for each age cohort, the better we can determine competitive Tiers within those age groups. We are aiming for 2 Tiers in most age groups to keep the skill levels balanced and the game play competitive.
Under the current OHF guidelines for Stage 3b, we need to carry 2 weeks of Development and then can advance to game play. Because there is no “Rep” hockey, our Organization will currently run in House format. We are aiming for 1 Practice 1 Game per week, but hoping to bump to 3 ice times once Eddie Bush opens up.
Yes Hockey will not quite be the same as it was, however with 4v4 games half ice for U7, U9 and 3v3 games full ice for U11, U13, U15, U18, the kids will have many more puck touches than before. Further to that, the elimination of face-offs, means the games will be faster and continuous. Penalty shots in lieu of traditional penalties will give the games a creative flair.
So rest assured, CMHA Board is the best possible right now to stay up to speed with changing OHF framework and get the necessary approvals to have kids on the ice over the next few weeks. And to recap, a lot can change between now and January. So please come back to our rinks and help build Hockey back to the sport we know and love.
Best, Dave Epp
