Update from CMHA President

To all of our Minor Hockey players and families. I hope everyone has been staying healthy and keeping active during this challenged time as we all try and work through this pandemic, and adapt to the new normal.   I am sending out this update today as I am sure many families are wondering where Collingwood Minor Hockey is at as far as our future. To date we have had very little information from the Ontario Minor Hockey Association, but please note they are working hard to put policies and procedures in place, now that the Province of Ontario has announced Phase 3 effective July 17.

The CMHA’s Return to Hockey committee has been developing a plan and the Board of Directors have been working on planning for next season to make sure when OMHA gives us a green light we can be up and running in a short time frame.  This will still remain contingent upon the Town’s approval and Ice facility timing.  It is important to note that there are other communities that have their ice put back in their arenas, however that is a decision of the Municipality, not the Minor Hockey Association.

The Collingwood Minor Hockey Board has received a significant amount of correspondence regarding Registration and what the plan is moving forward.  The Board has decided for the time being to keep registration closed, as we will be reviewing this week by week, depending on the decision from both the OMHA and Province.  We feel it is extremely important to make sure we make the right decisions when things open up, as there are many unknowns that could put this association at risk.

If you are looking for a permission to skate form, and the center you’re going to is open please reach out to [email protected] as I will do my best to assist you.
In closing we look forward to seeing you all again soon in the rink, and note we are all in this together and we will get through this, if you have any questions or concerns that need immediate attention please feel free to reach out.  I assure you all we will keep everyone informed as soon as time allows us to do so. To everyone, thank you for your understanding and support. Please Stay Safe.
