2025 Huronia Tournament Rules
1. This tournament is sanctioned by the OMHA and the OMHA rules and regulations. All decisions made by on-ice and off-ice
officials are final, no protests or appeals will be heard or accepted. Any division with a team from outside the OMHA will
be governed by OHF rules.

All Coaches/Managers shall report to the tournament desk in the arena at least hour prior to game to fill out the game sheet. Please ensure all team officials also sign the game sheet. Game sheets must remain at the desk. Games will be locked and uploaded by the timekeeper within 5 minutes of the referee sign off and returned to the main desk.

A team official (Coach or Manager) may be required to show an approved OMHA Team Roster prior to games, which includes all players and team officials; The Head Coach must also sign the “Rules Acknowledgement Form” prior to the start of the first round robin game.

All teams must have a Head Coach and Trainer, and no more than a total of five (5) bench staff for each game as per OMHA. All bench staff must be on an APPROVED OMHA ROSTER.

All Round Robin and Quarter Final games will be 10-10-15 minute periods in length. A three (3) minute warm-up will precede each game and will begin as soon as the game officials arrive on the ice. Semi-Final and Final Games will be 10-15-15 minute periods.

Each team shall bring two sets of jerseys. The home team in each game shall wear their light-colored sweaters. In the event of a conflict, the convener may choose to assign colors inconsistent with this rule. Teams must also vacate the dressing rooms 15 minutes following play. Rooms must be free of any garbage.

There shall be no timeouts or overtime in round robin play. One 30 second time out will be permitted in Quarter, Semi and Final games.

Teams should be ready to play 15 minutes prior to their scheduled game time.

Regardless of the number of teams in a division pool; at the end of the round robin play, the teams will be ranked by points for play in the elimination round.

TIE BREAKING PROCEDURE: If two or more teams are tied in total points at the end of round-robin play, the finishing order shall be determined as follows:
1a. Head to Head if one team beats one or more that they are tied with. See Special note below.
1b. The team with the most wins in the round robin gains the higher position.
1c. If the two teams are still tied after 1.1 then the team with the best goal average
gains a higher position. The Goal Average of a team is to be determined in the following manner: Total number of Goals- For
divided by the Total Number Goals For plus Against. NOTE: All 3 round robin games are included.
Example: For = 10 Goals For & 4 Goals Against. Percentage 10/10+4 = .714. NOTE: The higher percentage gains the higher
position.
1d. If the two teams are still tied after 1.1, 1.2, the team with the most goals will gain the higher position.
1e. If the two teams are still tied after 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3, the team with the fewest goals against will gain the higher position.
1f. If the two teams are still tied after 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 have been applied, the team with the least number of minutes in
penalties throughout all of the round robin games, gains the higher position.
1g. If two or more teams are still tied, a coin toss will determine the higher position.
Special note: In the event of a three / four way tie, the same tie breaking process will be applied to determine the first position,
followed by restarting this procedure for the remaining two/three teams.
12. OVERTIME RULES: There will not be overtime in the round robin-games, only in Quarter, Semi’s and Finals.

First Five Minutes: 4 vs. 4 skaters, sudden death victory.

If still tied, a Five Minute 3 vs. 3 skaters period will be played, sudden death victory.

If still tied, a three (3) player shoot-out will commence..

If still tied after three (3) shooters, then a sudden death victory shoot-out will commence.

NOTE: The initial 3 shooters CANNOT shoot again until all remaining players on the game sheet (excluding goaltenders) have made one attempt in the shoot-out. NOTE: Ejected players shall be removed from the shoot-out list on the game sheet. Additionally, players leaving the game with injury prior to the final buzzer, or serving a misconduct penalty at the end of overtime, shall be removed from the shoot-out list.
13. If a team is winning by five (5) goals or more after the second period, the clock will be running until the gap is reduced to
four (4) goals, at which point the clock will revert to stop time. All minor penalties will be 2 minutes during straight and/or
stop time. The clock will stop for any on ice injury.
Each team will be permitted a 1-30 second timeout in elimination games. This includes overtime.
14. Fighting and Match Penalties: A player who receives a fighting major or match penalty shall be suspended from the
remainder of the tournament.
15. All division and tournament standings shall be determined on the Website Standings. All divisions will consist of two pools.
16. All four teams will compete in a quarter-final game. The winners will advance to a semi-final game. The winners from each
semi-final will go on to the finals.
17. Any form of abuse from a parent, family member, individual or group towards an on-ice official, timekeeper, player, coaching
staff or Huronia staff will result immediate removal from the facility. Further ban and team repercussions may take place.
