International Silver Stick Atom AE Champions
Congratulations to the "Hume Street Dental Care" Collingwood Blackhawks Atom AE 3 team for winning the 2014-15 Pelham International Silver Stick Championship (Tier II). It truly was an International experience for our players as we faced teams from Indiana, New Jersey and New York and three from Ontario including Strathroy, Alliston and Lincoln.
Yesterday morning's semi-final game was a nail biter but the kids prevailed with a 4-3 OT win versus the New Jersey Youth Flyers. Today was one of those special days when the entire team was firing on all cylinders. Starting in goal with Luke Cameron who saved his best for the final game making several timely saves, to the solid defensive plays from our four stalwarts on the blue line to our eight forwards who attacked early and never let up. The end result was an impressive 5-0 victory over the Lincoln Blades!
Of course the weekend (which started Wednesday evening) would not be the success that it was if it was not for the many parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts & uncles and friends who joined us to watch these 14 kids play four days of hockey. We would also like to thank the many people who sent well wishes and notes of congratulations from Collingwood and abroad via social media, text etc. It was and is greatly appreciated.
The Coaching Staff is very proud of the team for a great first half to the hockey season. We now look forward to both the OMHA and Georgian Bay playoffs and play downs.
