U11 Collingwood Jr. Blues Capture Aurora March Madness Title in Overtime Thriller
The barn was buzzing and the Blues delivered.
The U11 Collingwood Jr. Blues added another championship banner to an already electric season, capturing the Aurora March Madness Tournament title with a heart-stopping 6–5 overtime victory over the Port Stanley Sailors.
Sixteen teams entered. Only one skated out as champions.
From puck drop, the Blues came out flying.
Game 1? A statement.
A 15–0 dismantling of the Saugeen Steelheads that set the tone for the weekend.
Game 2? Grit check.
The Chatsworth Rebels pushed hard late, but Collingwood shut the door when it mattered most, grinding out a 4–3 win.
Round robin finale? More firepower.
A commanding 12–0 win over the host Aurora Tigers.
Finishing second overall, the Blues punched their ticket to the semifinals — where the intensity cranked up another level.
In a tight 2–1 battle against the Kemptville Royals, goaltender Jackson Pettipas stood tall between the pipes, turning aside relentless pressure and making clutch saves to send the Blues to the finals.
And then came the championship showdown.
Collingwood jumped ahead early, but the Sailors refused to sink, tying the game late in the third and forcing overtime. The ice opened up for 3-on-3 hockey — speed, skill, and nerves of steel.
Then it happened.
Ethan Mitchell broke free on a breakaway…
One move.
Top shelf.
Game over.
The 6–5 overtime winner sent the Blues pouring off the bench in celebration, gloves in the air and sticks raised high.
Another tournament.
Another trophy.
Another chapter in what’s becoming a season to remember.
